Welcome to Michael Kohn, Architect Michael brings a passion for excellent design and a problem-solving discipline to his work, partnering and collaborating closely with clients. With deep experience in educational, religious, and historic renovation projects, the practice has sharpened its focus more recently on environmentally-friendly housing aimed at aging in place.
Michael Kohn is a LEED-accredited professional and SC-licensed architect with over forty years of experience. As a native Carolinian, he grew up with a love of fine art, music, community, and culture. After graduating summa cum laude and first in his architecture class with a BA of Pre-Architecture from Clemson University, Michael spent a year in Germany at the University of Stuttgart on a full academic fellowship, followed by a Master of Architecture degree from Rice University, Houston.
Michael Kohn, Architect is small, mobile, and flexible, creating teams specifically assembled to respond to unique design challenges. Michael has taught architecture at the University of Houston, served on Columbia and SCs AIA boards, presented at national AIA conventions, and served continuously in the field of architecture since graduation with a wide range of clients and projects. As a firm, Michael Kohn, Architect is deeply rooted in the community, with Michael himself serving in leadership roles in organizations such as the Columbia Rotary Club and the SC Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
